goodnewsaboutgod/studies/holidays2.htm Ok as a Christian I have dealt w/ my convictions on what holidays & holiday traditions we celebrate. We do Halloween unlike some though like other Christian holidays, we celebrate things our way. We celebrate creativity and imagination, being young & enjoying spending time w/ our family w/ out the commercialization of the other holidays. Yes I have decorations to make the house festive for my kids for holidays. Yes we buy costumes but we also buy extras for Christmas presents b/c our kids love to dress up. We have a tree & an Easter egg hunt. Yes we celebrate Easter, Christmas, & Valentines day. Though I know all have pagan origin I do choose to celebrate our Christian beliefs at those traditional times. Though we do not include the commercialized part of the holidays of Santa or the Easter bunny as part of our celebration but i do not ban items or shows b/c my kids know what pretend is. The point is this, they all had pagan origin. We each have our own convictions about what we celebrate & how we choose to celebrate. Christians need to stop tearing each other down for things they disagree w/ personally for one holiday but turn around & celebrate the same type of thing for another! Choose how you and your family will honor each holiday & its meaning. We choose to celebrate a lot b/c we love spending time w/ our family making memories. I find just about any excuse to throw a party lol Just remember you do not know the reasoning behind why someone may choose to celebrate the way they do so please do not tear each other down over traditions that differ from your own. We are to love each other and support each other. So unless a fellow Christian is doing something to dishonor The Lord or being a hypocrite & hurting the Christian name how about we try some love & less judging this holiday season. We can agree to disagree & not try to push our beliefs onto each other! I get very sick of people looking down on me b/c we dont do Santa & my kids might slip & ruin their kids false reality. I dont go around breaking little kids hearts telling them he isnt real so I would appreciate the same consideration for my kids traditions as well. They enjoy the holidays just as much as any other child. I cannot & will not drill them any more about slipping it isnt fair that they have to hide their beliefs. Though they are very considerate not to tell other kids b/c they dont want to hurt their feelings & have been taught to walk away from conversations or to say we dont talk about that so they dont have to be put in an awkward position. So please give my kids the same consideration we give yours Thank you & I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!
