great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. and they shall call you, The City of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, i will make you an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. glorious things are spoken of you, O City of God. selah. i will make a man more precious than fine gold. since you were precious in my sight, you have been honorable, and i have loved you. the Lord loves the gates of zion more than all the dwellings of jacob. even a man than the golden wedge of ophir. therefore will i give men for you, and people for your life. i will make mention of rahab and babylon to them that know me. therefore i will shake the heavens and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts and in the day of His fierce anger. i gave egypt for your ransom, ethiopia and seba for you. behold philistia, and tyre, with ethiopia. the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. now therefore be you not mockers, lest your bands be made strong. for though your people israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return. for i have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. for the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
