has already had enough of seeing shared alarmist tabloid headlines along the lines of: BRITAIN TO FREEZE IN ARCTIC CHOKEHOLD! 11,000 GRITTERS ON RED ALERT! Scary, you think, so you read on as they detail just how much snow will fall. The Highlands, parts of the Peak District, The Cairngorms; places that would have snow anyway. Everyone else, it turns out, can expect rain sweeping Northwest. Then theres the temperature plummet: The Mercury will nosedive to 2C, with a windchill making it feel like -1C! Chilly, but hardly the Arctic convoys. This is weather whereby if you go out without a coat, you wont die. Youll just wish youd brought a coat. All the horror-show of the headline is usually undermined by a Met Office spokesman saying it WILL get colder (as its not Winter yet) but any long-term forecasts are harder to predict. Brilliant. The transport network will grind to a halt amid widescale disruption! Like any given morning/evening then. I know itll get colder but Im sick of this country and its over the top scare-mongering about the weather. So here are some sensible tips: 1) Trust your view from your window 2) Disregard anything said by the Daily Express 3) Check the dates on shared stories on FB. Theyre often from 2012. And if it DOES snow: 4) Avoid non-essential journeys 5) Wrap up and take a Thermos.
