has just spent a pleasant hour in the garden with Rachel listening to and watching the Collar Doves, Wood Pigeons, Blackbirds, Great Tits and Carrion Crows settling down for the night as the sun went down behind the trees; and enjoying the intricate dances of hunting Dragonflies and Damsel Flies as they swooped over the lawn. Then the bats appeared - several of them, from two different species (we think). The smaller ones made tapping noises on the bat detector at 45 KHz or thereabouts - these are probably Pipistrelles - the larger ones were using a higher frequency of around 70 KHz. Can you help with an identification, Tom Hastings?
