has now completed her jury duty at Blackfriars Crown Court. I now feel qualified to state that I firmly believe that trial by jury is the fairest possible way to obtain justice. I feel proud and privileged to have acted as a juror over the past two weeks - I have met interesting people from all walks of life from whom I have learnt a lot and who have reinforced my faith in the values and judgement of the ordinary member of the public. I have been impressed by the even-handedness and professionalism of the judges, and also their diversity in ethnicity and gender. I genuinely feel that jury service is an extraordinarily valuable and rewarding public service. If youre ever called for jury service - do it. Its tedious and demanding in part, but contributing personally to a fair and just society that abides by the rule of law is a feeling that surpasses all this.
