hey year 6 peeps who just graduated (or year 7). your senior by one year here. just wanna give you guys and girls a short simple tip when you go on to NS/participate in uni camps (or just go out there in the world in general) try to keep an open mind as you meet many many new people. everyone has grown up in a different environment, and in my opinion its almost TOXIC that we had to face nothing but an ultra controlled and protected environment in RV for 6 of the human lifes most crucial nurturing years. for example, when i told my trooper friend who schooled at ITE central that there were no smokers in my J2 batch, he refused to believe me. 怎么可能? he kept saying, adding that i probably just didnt know of the people, but they existed. but thats another thing other people cant understand, that everyone in RV knows everyone from their batch, because of how small our batch is in addition to how long a time we spend with each other (6 years vs the normal 4 years). anyway my batch confirm dont have during our time of schooling, im from ang yi mings batch. we grow so used to having certain fixed attitudes that we deem are okay because of our fitting in in our respective batches, but thats not ok. you have to learn to adapt and behave differently depending on the many different audiences you will come to face. again, always keep an open mind and be slow to judge as you step outside into the open world. no longer will there be a department ubiquitously present to keep censorship and other stuffs in check. all the best!
