https://youtube/watch?v=-LOgMWbDGPA If you have not heard this song for a while, take a few minutes and enjoy it again. Paul McCartney was, while in his twenties, one of the best song writers in the world. Lennon a close second, perhaps, depending on the song, but certainly Imagine is one of the best songs every written, as well. When they truly worked together, such as when they composed A Day in the Life, the results were astounding. The partnership of two such geniuses could not last forever, although the music has. And George Harrison, during the years he fought for recognition with Paul, John and producer George Martin, as a song writer, were bitter years for him, but also a crucible in which he wrote many of his songs, some of which were, towards the end of the Beatles, matching in quality to the best work of John and Paul. Sadly, many of the songs that George wrote would never see the light of day as a Beatles recording, but they did allow George to produce the greatest of all Beatles solo albums, the masterful All Things Must Pass LP. I wonder, what if they had hung in there for one more LP? We might have seen these 14 songs recorded by the Beatles. God (Lennon) It Dont Come Easy (Harrison/Star) Photograph (Harrison/Star) Imagine (Lennon) Maybe Im Amazed (McCartney) All Things Must Pass (Harrison) Isnt it a Pity (Harrison) Admiral Halsey (McCartney) Backseat of my Car (McCartney) (they practiced this one during the Let it Be sessions) Beware of Darkness (Harrison) Instant Karma (Lennon) Cold Turkey (Lennon) rejected by the Beatles save for John as a Beatles single.... Oh, Yoko (My Love Will Turn You On) Lennon Crippled Inside (Lennon) Imagine what an album like that would have been. And I would have called their final album All Things Must Pass/The Beatles say Farewell. Meanwhile, their chief competitors, the Rolling Stones, are still together. Funny, aint it?
