However, the characters in the game are “based on” the roster: Sakuya, Reimu, Tenshi, Eiki, Tewi, Shinki, Medicine, Yuuka, and congratulations to the one person who voted for her, RIKA came out of the hat and made the cut. Well think of movesets for the newer maidens and treat them as if they were touhou characters with their actual abilities. The costumes will necessarily look different, BUT each character will have one alt pallet that obviously resembles their Touhou counterpart without being too similar. The levels will also be similar to environments that you would see in gensokyo, however they will not have touhou iconography in order to avoid copyright. (...) In order to honor our past, the projects new Name is “南西Doujin Spirit”. Touhou means “way of the east”. FSS is from the SouthWestern part of America, and thus the name Nansei means “Southwest”. FSS admits that it did not understand the doujin spirit exactly the way it is in Japan. We admit that our project may be a slightly different from the traditional Doujin Spirit, but FSS views that doujin spirit has evolved a little differently across the world over the past years to a variety of different cultures. To say that one’s way of achieving doujin spirit is wrong just for not following the unspoken guidelines precisely, is not fair.
