i) Friar condemns Romeo for his foolish act of breaking down at the sign of difficulty , as could be seen from his banishment issued by the Prince. He challenges Romeo’s gender and ego as a man so that Romeo would wake up and realize that it is a crucial moment to formulate ways to escape and elope with Juliet instead of wallowing in pensiveness and hiding from his problems. The Friar indicates that Romeo should buck up his courage and tenacity as moping around would do him and Juliet no good. ii) The Friar is a sensible and rational person who stays calm in times of calamities and gives important and prudent advice to aid Romeo when he is in trouble. However , Romeo, being the main character in the play, actually resorted to committing suicide, which is extremely unwise of him to do so as he would put his marriage with Juliet and Juliet herself in peril. His actions have a huge impact on what would happen subsequently in the play .
