i am not telling people to switch how ever i am here to educate some people who are scared and unable to research. most people believe margarine was invented in the 50ies ...it was actually in 1860ies. Margarine (Listeni/ˈmɑrdʒərɨn/, /ˈmɑrɡərɨn/, /ˈmɑrdʒrɨn/, or /ˈmɑrdʒəriːn/) is an imitation butter spread used for spreading, baking, and cooking. It was originally created from beef tallow and skimmed milk in 1869 in France by Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès, as a result of a challenge proposed by Emperor Louis Napoleon III,[1] as a substitute for butter which would later be renamed “margarine”. Whereas butter is made from the butterfat of milk, modern margarine is made mainly of refined vegetable oil and water, and may also contain milk. In some locales it is colloquially referred to as oleo, short for oleomargarine.[2] Margarine, like butter, consists of a water-in-fat emulsion, with tiny droplets of water dispersed uniformly throughout a fat phase which is in a stable crystalline form.[3] Margarine has a minimum fat content of 80%, the same as butter, but unlike butter, reduced-fat varieties of margarine can also be labelled as margarine (in some countries).[4] Margarine can be used for spreading, baking, and cooking. It is also commonly used as an ingredient in other food products, such as pastries and cookies, for its wide range of functionalities.[5] But shane what about the molecules its 1 atom from plastic: yes...that may be true it is a fact that on an anatomical level margarine is nearly the same atomic level as common plastics how ever on a compound level it is physically impossible to change a fatty acid into a plastic compound. also the mixture required to make plastic is heat where as margarine is cold so they are not identicle in the least. now for some facts BUTTER TASTES BETTER...that is not an opinion it is a fact no matter what butter tastes better...both are man made..butter is made from animals while maragrine is made from vegetable oils... how ever... i did research way in the past because of my ailing father and i am going to point out some things. 1) natural butter is high in fatty acids and cholesterol (( bad for heart patients)) where as margarine is relatively low in those fields (( good for heart patients)) 2) Easier to cook with...butter is easy to spread on some things where as margarine is a pain in the ass to put on bread or toast.. 3) the data i have collected is over 5 years old...if you can bring up some more data for me to go over that is more recent i would love to go over it with you.
