i sold a used nintendo NES in NYC for $40 six years ago(yes, still had one). the guy went to the ATM with me in front of my bank, and did some kind of transaction, then gave me $40. I didnt think twice, counted 2 20s, went inside to deposit $20, and spend $20 on lunch. Normally didnt carry much cash in NYC... I tried to deposit $20 in the bank, and the teller confiscated the money. He said, youve been had, did you just get the money from that guy out front? He just gave you fake money. The bank doesnt investigate unless you try and deposit over $2-5k, so dont worry about it, happens often in NYC. People go to the ATM to get cash to pay for something, and then give you fake cash. Watch out for this kind of thing. See this? (points at some design on the bill), thats not right. After examining it, I also realized the paper was a bit off, and also, 1/4 of an inch smaller than the right kind of bill. hmm...duly noted, check for fake money. So, great, so I still have the $20, kept in my wallet as a reminder NOT to get hustled. This is NYC, be careful, right? Then, the next day I go to House of Hoops in Harlem to pick up some sneakers. The cashier, recognizing me, gives me a bro hug, and at the same time, pickpockets me. I paid with a card, no idea why hed assume I had cash, but he did. I walk over to the manager, and Im like, your employee just pickpocketed me right after I paid. Manager says, are you sure? Im like, i just paid a few minutes ago, and now I have no wallet. I even felt it slightly, but I know this guy...I mean its Rob 5000. Everyone knows Rob 5000. and I carry my wallet in my front pocket, so i mean, you have to really be an idiot to do something like this He gets his phone and calls the loss prevention team in the back. Yeah, youre right, Rob 5000 did pickpocket you. There are the most cameras in the cashier area. That doesnt make sense, did you have any cash? Kind of. I had $20.. Dude, come back in a little bit, let me figure this out. So anyway, i go home, this is interesting because I know the manager, and there is a security guard at the store. In this particular store, I knew every single person that worked there. Anyway, 30 minutes later, Rob 5000 calls me and says, Dude, i found your wallet! You left it here. Really... dude. Went back, watched Rob5000 get fired, got my wallet back, and guess what? The fake $20 bill was gone and nothing else. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes my friends.
