i talked to a former police officer who had retired after working himself up the ladder to assistant police chief before ending his career. He said that eighty percent of the crime in the united states are drug related and that if the federal government would legalize grass and control the sale of it though government owned and run retail outlets that it would do two things. One is cut down the cost by billions spent on chasing the drug runners, by cutting out their market, and increase the tax revenue to the government because of the taxes they could impose on the new legal product. It reminded me that a few years before i moved to the states it appeared that Canada was on the verge of legalizing it when then President of United State Clinton made a few forceful and threatening phone calls to our prime minster at that time which turned the governments mind real fast.
