You get to play very interesting characters, if given the opportunity, which I have had, and express yourself though the character with your own interpretation as well as the vision of the director and writer. I love acting, just as much as writing and directing. What I find most compelling about acting, is yes, you are an artist, and it is your responsibility to make your character as interesting as possible, as well as very truthful, and hopefully you will get the opportunity to make some kind of artistic impact, and when people walk out of the theater, either in film, television, or off Broadway, whatever, they will be thinking of the film or play, long after its over. Making a good artistic impact is the greatest reward. Making people think. All actors should be proud of what we do. As well as writers and directors. No, we are not saving peoples lives, like firemen, nurses, EMTs, Doctors, etc,... but we are giving entertainment, which actually can,if done correctly, change peoples lives in some way, and hopefully making people laugh, or cry, or reflect.
