The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a global community of engineers in electrical engineering and information technology. It has 400,000 members in over 150 countries and is the largest technical professional organization in the world. The Electron Device Society is one of 38 sub-organizations within the IEEE. Each year the EDS only awards 3 such prizes: one for the American region, one for the Asia-Pacific region and one for the European/Middle East/Africa region. Tarek Zaki is employed with the Institut für Nano- und Mikroelektronische Systeme at Universität Stuttgart and does his research on the worldwide fastest low-volt transistors in organic electronics at Institut für Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS) that developed and manufactured the necessary highly-precise stencil masks. The work is a result of the close cooperation between the Organic Electronics research group around Dr. Hagen Klauk at Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung in Stuttgart. The IMS would like to congradulate Mr. Zaki to the outstanding prize that will be awarded in Washington, D. C., in December.
