in case anybodys wondering; not doing much this summer but hoping, in the Fall, once I am feeling a little bit better, to begin a new historical project called In the Diaspora of the Diaspora; Black Music of the First World. The idea is to create a resource guide to the American vernacular for the years 1900-1970, to trace a lot of musical styles and influences that encompass African and post-African (and African American) influences; I had been toying with the idea of doing some kind of podcast (been thinking about this for about 5 years) and now may be the time. Hope to make this the most comprehensive thing on the subject. I have the info, question is really how long it will take (I anticipate 2 years once I get started) and what exact format to use.
