in todays reading... We all will fall victim to our own - TopicsExpress

in todays reading... We all will fall victim to our own assumptions and opinions, on occasion. However, we do not have to be victimized by our imaginations. We can rein in our thoughts and give them to God and let Him battle with the sin that corrupts our minds and influences our thinking. Its human nature to wish to categorize and classify our world so we can better understand it, and since we all have our differences, we may catch ourselves using our differences to categorize people. It is not necessarily bad to see others in categories unless those categories lead to pre-judgement... At that point our thoughts become flawed, prejudiced and evil. Pr 14:22 Do they not go astray who devise evil? But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good. We hear the term profiling in the news. Profiling as a form of categorizing, for risk assessment, is not prejudice. But profiling to condemn is prejudice. We can waste a great deal of our potential by investing in supposition and unnecessary preventative reactions to things that do not even exist outside of our own thoughts. If we trust the Lord and let Him rule in our hearts and minds, He will give us a Christ-like grace that allows us to see others as they really are and avoid allowing the influence of our prejudices to so easily effect our mind sets. Christ died that ALL might live, not just our favorite teams. ....But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good. Rich and Rachel Zinzer
