Teaching your dog to find certain odors working with you as a partner. Great confidence building. Introduction to Scent Nose Work – for inside the home….. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This workshop will focus on teaching you just how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and new scents Plus this class will also advance the dog’s scent discrimination skills taught in the basic nose work class- we will be matching an odor to a simple behavior that the dog already knows; like sit or down. Interactive puzzles and Games Air scent work –hide and seek games Self-control games for find it…. Plus container and pop up for sport or for fun. It’s a great intro for your dog and you to have fun, build confidence working as a team and burn lots of mental and physical energy and to find out just how you can help develop your dog’s nose. What to Bring What youll need to bring for class: • Crate (where your dog will rest between runs) those who bring a crate your dogs must be crate-trained and quiet if crated. (This is optional) Bring at least a mat for your dogs to lie on. • Water Bowl (for you and the dog) • Flat Collar (buckle or Martingale style) or a well-fitted traditional style harness during the class. No head halters or Easy Walk harnesses during their turns ..you are of course welcome to use walking dog into and out of the building • Leash: A 6-foot light-weight leather or nylon leash (no chain or retractable). All dangling items on the end of the lead like poop bags holders must be removed so as not to distract the dog. Please no retractable during workshop.. find for taking dogs for a walk… • Toys and/or treats: HIGH VALUE toys and treats! For example: • Bring favorite toy that he loves to play with Bring something yummy –like chicken, cheese roast beef what ever… he/she would to die for.. … bring a few things in case what you thought was going to work, he doesn’t seem to care for today, please bring a bait bag/fanny pack to put your food treats, favorite toy or sock in.
