its hard for me to express my opinion on this because it sounds hypocritical to say that i believe nobody is born with hate but cant choose who they fall in love with. but thats what i personally believe. i think that from a young age, people are influenced by others around them. i was brought up to accept others and to be compassionate, no matter how different people are from me. i was brought up to be respectful and kind to others. and ive never claimed to be perfect. i cant i say that for whatever reason there havent been times where ive made my own mistakes regarding other people. but i do know that im a huge believer in doing the right thing as often as i can. my definition of the right thing is obviously not going to be the same as everyone else. love and hate are complicated. i believe that while you can be brought up to hate, you can also be brought up to love. but i still dont believe that when it comes to falling in love, that there is complete control. yes, we all have our preferences. but do we choose those preferences? and why do the preferences of others make such a difference in our own lives? why are people so opinionated and hateful towards others because of who they love? i think that love and compassion in any form is truly a gift. and i think that hate and cruelty in any form is toxic. i dont ask anyone to agree with the things i say and believe, though ive made many posts about this topic and i always will. but sometimes i think that maybe if people could see things in a different light, it might make more sense. its not about whos gay or straight, male or female, black or white, old or young, etc. i personally think that we should evaluate others based on much deeper characteristics.
