just posted this comment on news24: @all Yes tribal mentality, but how does one change it? The US had a major war over tribal mentality it was called the Civil War. That was only circa 150 years ago and yet an entire nation went to war because their loyalty was stronger to their state (tribe if you will) than to the nation. It is a foolish mentality but instead of simply belittling that mentality and saying that it is the African way, which it isnt just Africa, how do you combat it. Most African nations are less than 60 years old as independent states, most Africans can trace their roots in a tribe back much longer than that. How then do you get Africans to realize that their best hope for the future is a strong and free nation and to have that they need to invest their loyalty in the state over the tribe?
