last night we began a series on overcoming the emeny and I just want to sare a few tidbits: From Genesis we see that when the enemy attacked eve, ( and when he attacks us) He hides his true nature He hides his true intent He systematically builds trust He twists or perverts God’s word He turns our hearts away from God He gains access to our souls He turns us into his servants He brings death and destruction through us And as we all know that Eve failed to overcome the enemy and that the enemy’s attack was successful, as is the case with many of us However, lets contrast that with the picture painted by Luke in the 2nd through 13th verses of the 4th Chapter of the Book of Luke which reads “ Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, He afterward hungered. And Jesus answering said unto him It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord they God and when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.” Do you see the difference in Jesus’ response as well as the outcome. In Jesus’ response we see That the enemy was recognized for who he was The enemy’s suggestions we rejected not considered Jesus responded to satan based on what God said and not what He thought Jesus used the word to build a wall of defense Jesus focused on God’s will and not His desire Jesus resisted The Enemy fled Can you see the difference in the two discourses Which one best represents your last battle with the enemy?
