may 2012 was last time I worked a shift at a radio station, back then i was broke and didnt even make enough to pay my rent, had no car and worked every saturday and sunday but I was generally happy and looking to the future at what seem to be a platter of oppertunity. Shortly after I rejoined the Manufacturing industry(cuase I had bills to pay). now I make decent money, I have a car, and am looking into home ownership on a serioous level, but my health has suffered greatly, Im just about as pissed off as I ever was, I still work saturdays plus mon - fri, and every single day at some point I complain about some part of my life. back in the radio days co-workers told me about other oppertunities and the stategies to move forward. Now co-workers lie to me, to get me to do their work for them as well as my own. Back then Id finish work and go home to work on music or imaging for my radio show Aggressive Tendencies. Now I get home and have to lay down for about 30 - 45 mins before i can make supper, and then I play video games for hrs try to ditract myself from all the aches and pain. Now I have to take an inhaler every morning and every night just breath right and a second inhaler to treat my attacks. Since rejoining manufacturing I have had serious flu/cold 9 times and been on peneciline three time! In two years of college and 1 year in radio I had 2 serious colds. Make NO mistake about it, the job you have effects every fasset of your life, so for my friends in the Radio Biz, that feel the need to rant, piss or moan about having bad/hard/stressful work place, For those who, ON AIR, express their discontent for their work place, For those who say Radio is a tough business! I have pair of dirty, greasy, smelly, steel toe boots for you to walk a mile in, and Ill switch places with you right now and I do mean immediatly. and For my radio friends who LOVE what they do and have no complaint, CHEERS! I raise a glass to you sirs, an maams! I raise my glass.
