my mom texted me today while i was at work that she made an orthopedic apt for me and my super scoliosis spine. ive been avoiding it for the past 5 years just being used to the discomfort/pain, after coping with it for the 13 years before that. fancy appointments, surgeons and back braces. when i got the text i was tearing up so i called my mom to tell her how i was afraid to face it again because i know that logically, i need to have my spine replaced in two spots within the year. hopefully no more than a 2 month recovery, but im legit terrified. the only thing keeping my head up about this is knowing that my 14 year old sister is going through the same thing i went through at her age. She is in the same braces I had to wear at her age and shes already had brain surgery because of the curves reaching into and past her brain stem. Im grateful that my mom made my appointment on the same day as my sisters appointment for the same progressive spine disorder. We can do this together. She makes we want to be strong for us both. I cant imagine her spine being where mine is now.. were 10 years apart. Talk about strength. I love you Tori. Im so glad we have eachother in this. Youre more of a support to me than you know.
