out in town today when someone asked the princess is this your mum she grabbed my hand and said no shes my foster mum. As often happens this comment earned the reply I couldnt do it, I couldnt give them back! when I hear this I always have to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying well tbh im so hard hearted it doesnt bother me in the slightest yes its heartbreaking but its part of what we do and when they go its hopefully the best thing for them and isnt that what we are doing it for, if we all had that attitude noone would foster and what would happen to all those vulnerable soles that need us then? Im lucky as its almost 2 years since I had to give one back (although in that case and in a lot of cases it isnt giving them back its helping them on the next part of their journey and usually on to adopters) and all my current little darlings are here now to stay I take my hat off to people who regularly prepare LOs for adoption and go through that heartache time and time again ( Mary, two in two weeks, youre amazing x) but people please be a little more sensative with your comments to foster carers and if thats seriously the only reason you cant dont think you can do it go for long term fostering or better still adopt
