over fifty years ago a graduating class of seniors scattered to go their different ways into their lives journey...we didnt think about never seeing each other again or if we would remain a free nation or who would live the longest or who would die way too early, who would we marry, would we be happy, would we be alone, would we SURVIVE even?...friendships last forever, if theyre real and Ive been blessed with many, many friends...tomorrow a friend whom Ive known for years and learned to love deeply over the past decade or so when we, the seniors of 1963, began to end our careers and start enjoying our golden years, will have another birthday...you may know her as Doris Biddle from the baby boomer era in Bristow...Doris and I never were all that close in our school years although Ive always admired her and considered her a friend...we went our separate ways in 1963 as the rest of the class and didnt see or hear from one another in the years to come except through reunions or funerals or such...but we pretty much led same lives...fell in love with the perfect mates within two years from graduation, followed our lives training as best we knew with obedience to god and civil laws of our society and to stand on our own feet facing obstacles head on...we had children and grandchildren and enjoy yet pretty good health...Doris is an active wife, mother and grandmother with her husband, Hank Williams of fifty years almost...not the guitar picking, whiskey drinking, cowboy yodeling hillbilly of the 40s-50s country music scene, but THE Hank Williams who is a few years older than us that grew up in similar fashion and graduated from Altus high school ...Sooner fan, sport loving, flag waving, knee bowing all around good guy and perfect mate for my friend...cant say in a few written words how much I appreciate these friends and wish I could, but maybe these few photos of her and her lifetime of memories I hold for her and her friendship will suffice...happy birthday, Doris...and, Hank, Boomer Sooner...but basketball really does blow...
