people need to have it explained why steel in a building can soften through the heat of a fire, but the internals of a jet engine dont melt.... on a conspiracy theory site i didnt get a single person questioning or saying but what about...... my work here is done.... Okay, firstly, it didnt melt the steel beams, it softened them to the point that they couldnt support the weight of the building above the fire. Secondly, it is clear that not all of the fuel would have passed straight through the building, it would have covered everything inside and only some would have exited. And lastly, and this is where it get technical, a planes engine sucks cold air in at one end and pushes hot gas out through the other, just like your cars engine does, the mixture of air and fuel being sucked in has a cooling effect, but this is only part of the cooling system within a planes engine. the engine core has two sets of blades (we neednt count the fan blades at the front, the work in air) there are the compressor blades at the front of the engine core, and the impeller blades at the back, connected via the turbine shaft. when the engine is spinning, the compressor blades at the front compress the air, fuel is squirted into this compressed air where it explodes (just like a diesel engine) this explosive expansion of gas then forces its way out the back of the engine turning the impeller as it goes and so turning the shaft and turning the compressor blades at the front. this is where it gets really interesting, the impeller blades are not solid, they have lots of tiny tubes cast into them at manufacture (they are also grown as a single crystal but i shall come onto that in another lecture) which cause cold air to flow through the inside of the blades as they spin (via centrifugal force) keeping the blades below their melting temperature even though they are in a high temperature environment. This meme is a brilliant piece of not understanding stuff but stating it as fact!
