please like tony the fridge who is running from john o groats to lands end for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation On Saturday 3rd August I will attempt to run 40 Marathons in 40 days from John O’ Groats to Lands’ end England Carrying a 42kg Smeg Fridge on my back Mission Hello my name is Tony Phoenix-Morrison I ran 30 Great North Runs in 30 days with a 40kg/6 stone Fridge on my back. Every morning for 30 days in a row I set off from the start line of the Great North Run and run as closely as possible to the exact route. I ran the entire length of the Great North Run ending each day in South Shields. Setting off at 6:30am each day so that people could run with me if they wanted to or cheer me along. Obviously the 30th and final day was the Great North Run proper which is on the 16th September.I then ran it 1 more time the following day without the fridge just for fun. Running with a Fridge is always going to cause injuries and from day one of this challenge the difference between completing or not completing the challenge wias how I managed the injuries I sustained. I have also learnt that no amount of training can prepare you for friction injuries caused by the constant rubbing of a 6 stone metal box on your back and how that tears off your skin. The most frightening part of this challenge is the thought of friction burns, which after just one run can leave you in pain for weeks. I am not afraid to admit that this challenge has me scared, but I believe passionately in the charity I am supporting so I will just have to cope with it. I am running this year for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Like lots of people, I have lost people I love to cancer and like most people I loved Bobby Robson and everything he stood for. I also believe that one day somebody will find a cure, but until then we need to support all the cancer charities in which ever way we can. I am hoping raise £20,000 and one of the ways to do this is to sell advertising space on the side of the Fridge to local businesses. This however will only go a small way to my target so hopefully people will see what pain I am willing to go through for the cause and make a donation. The challenge is totally financed by me and 100% of donations will go to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. I am also launching a website where people can learn more about the challenge from my daily blog which is therunproject.co.uk Description Since then I have completed several other half marathons, the Blaydon Race and The 26.2 mile Marathon of the North
