published in the Liberty Tribune Clay County, Mo, July 20, 1900, “Richmond parties in receipt of a letter from California asking for whereabouts of heirs of Ephraim JANUARY. There are several of the heirs about Richmond and the letter has created much excitement. Ephraim JANUARY lived in Ray County in the earlier years of the century. In 1849 he had a disagreement with his father concerning his favorite sweetheart. The young man left home and turned westward with the gold seekers. His family never hear from him and the letter just received is the first intimation of him in 50 years. The Ray County heirs are Mesdames Rivers GANT of Lawson, Cyrus GANT of Lawson, Calvan HOUSER of Richmond, and the sons and daughters of the late Riley HOLMAN of Richmond. Those living elsewhere are Mrs. James CROWLEY of Excelsior Springs, John HUGHES of El Paso, Texas, Ephraim, Gus and Winn REDMON of Texas.
