recalling the riot grrl days of yore for the sake of getting myself back in the suit required for action. At the time it seemed essential for every awake woman with a set of ovaries to paste together a zine in the morning, attend three political action meetings in the afternoon, and enliven walls with collage art in the evening, before relaxing by making mix tapes and scrawling poetry that wouldnt be shared unless a slam demanded it. Steady action was easy when there were ongoing reminders that you needed to do something for the sake of everyone, for the sake of acknowledging that there was something missing, and maybe what was missing was a scream. I think thats still needed, even if my scream has evolved into the stuff of coyotes.
