**sad** Rezi, one of the two first snakes that I got together, is gone from me. Ive been sick now since the week before Christmas, and the meds I am on make me dopy and slow... and I didnt latch her viv well enough. Two nights ago she got out, and apparently my ferrets (whove been staying temporarily in the room where her viv is while I do some work on their regular area) spotted her almost right away-- Ive been hunting for her, but from the look of her body she was bitten at the back of the skull very deeply. Death was probably very quick; thats a mercy anyway. Ferrets are highly protective of each other, and I recall hearing an alarm-scream the night Rezi got out, though I didnt know she had escaped yet til the next morning. Hanabi my boss-ferret probably got her, she has the strongest hunting instinct. I feel horrible about this; it was my fault, no doubt about it even if I have been sick-- the ferrets did what instinct told them to do, just as Rezi wouldve done if there had been any newborn ferret kits around that were eating size. Nature, red in tooth and claw... I buried her in my garden out under the stars and planted a rosemary bush that I had just bought above her; may she rest in the earth and find her way out into an egg again someday, to hatch back into the light. Okay, need to go cuddle snakes for a while now.
