sharing didnt work for some reason, so I copy and pasted Patricia Cobbs letter. At this time the IWCA doesnt want any Donations being made until further notice, explanation below..... Permission to cross post. Wolfhound Rescue Effort in Galveston County, Texas- September 12, 2014 The Irish Wolfhound Club of America and the Irish Wolfhound Foundation are coordinating their efforts through joint Rescue Coordinator, Jean Minnier, to assist as many as seventy-two (72) wolfhounds seized today in Galveston County,Texas. Here’s what we know so far: Over 100 animals, including 72 Irish wolfhounds, were taken into custody today by the Houston SPCA. The dogs were living in poor conditions, and range in age from puppies to veterans. The Houston SPCA now has legal custody, but not necessarily ownership, of the dogs. It is not clear at this time that we can get the dogs released to us, but we will be working with the Houston SPCA toward that goal. In the meantime, the SPCA has moved the animals to different quarters, where they will be evaluated as to health and condition. Local efforts to assist these hounds are being handled by the South Central Irish Wolfhound Club. Contact the club at sciwc.org or Ann Sury at sciwcinfo@gmail . Here’s what we have done today: The Rescue resources of IWCA and IWF were immediately made available to Jean to use as the needs arose. Jean has been in touch with the Houston SPCA to express our willingness to help in any way that will insure a good outcome for the hounds. Here’s what you can do to help: Please, be patient. Trust that everything we can do to help these hounds is being done and will continue to be done. Please hold any donations until we are sure that the dogs will be turned over to us for homing. We very much appreciate the concern expressed from all around the world, and the offers of help. We will continue to update you as the situation develops. Sincerely, Patricia Cobb, President, IWCA Doug Marx, President, IWF Jean Minnier, IWCA, IWF Rescue Coordinator
