so David Shadowen hasnt been home since June 23. This weekend he was about 2 hours away so we had a date day. First, we had lunch at Skeeters World Famous Hotdogs and then we visited West Wind Farm Vineyard & Winery. While driving around trying to decide what to do next we saw a young man walking down a country road carrying a tire. We stopped and offered to take him to the nearest gas station. They couldnt help him so we took him several miles to the Walmart for him to replace his tire. He and his wife were relocating from Lubbock, TX to Baltimore MD and had not one - but two-blowouts on the trailer hauling their extra vehicle. We felt so blessed to be able to help them. While helping we noticed we were parked at the foot of The Mansion at Fort Chiswell which had ICE CREAM. YAY...we then finished our evening looking at the beautiful scenery, talking to the people who worked at the mansion and enjoying our ice cream. My 2 hour ride home was over 3 because of traffic and weather but it was worth it for the great day we had. Might not be your idea of a great date but I thought it was pretty darn fabulous :)
