so a bit of a wierd one, basically i couldnt get the car to run for a little while, and checked all the obvious, was getting no spark or fuel, so removed the ECU, checked that, nothing suspicious, put it back in, then it fired up, bit strange.. anyway, this keeps happening, keeps on stopping everything after between 15 mins to 30 mins of driving, doesnt matter if constant driving or just small journeys, and the battery went flat over a few hours but i cant pin point whether that was lack of charge or something draining it. the earth terminal seems to be live when connected to battery, as in it sparks.. which again, isnt right. the ecu sounds like it arcs when i plug it in, as in, there is charge being transferred... the alternator/starter/gearbox loom is all as it should be, already checked that... checked the ECCS loom, no breaks there, but did find the ignition live wire from off the barrel plug looked to have been getting hot weve removed the alarm/immob and the turbo timer and any other gizmos that were on it from standard. checked the engine loom, one wire from ECCS to that didnt match up so with Norfys advise i swapped that over, i now have spark but no fuel pump. i know its not the end of the world cus i can just run a switched ignition live to the fuel pump to make that work, but i want to know whats causing all these issues.. and i cant for the life of me see or find anything.. anybody got any clue at all? PezandTom Mahaffy , Aled Jones Ⓥ , Adam Allen or anyone else who used to own the 4dr?
