so our cleaner used to do telecommunications sales and installation for the Bulgarian version of BT, until they made cuts, and now hire only younger staff. She and many people of her generation were unable to find re-employment in the sector and are too old to start new careers. She wanted to move to Norway, but work there seems to be strictly national qualification driven, so came to London which she does not like but where there is more work. She first tried to follow her dream of setting up a florist, but could not make it financially successful. Her children are well educated and employed in the technology sectors in Bulgaria, while she is left being a cleaner in London, where she is looked down on by many people who assume that because she Bulgarian, she is therefore also - or like - a gypsy. This is all slightly heart breaking.
