some of my favorite magic cards, in chronological order: My magic career has had 3 distinct eras. The first card here comes from the first era, where I was a casual, multiplayer type who didnt go to FNM and just played with friends with whatever cards we could afford to buy with our allowances. My first magic deck was the Rakdos preconstructed deck from Dissension. Hellhole Rats was my first favorite card. So much value! Its practically bloodbraid elf before bloodbraid elf. plus baller art! Slave of Bolas is a very memorable card to me because it was in one of my first competitive-ish decks. When I transitioned from a casual player to a casual-competitive player I played a few decks. Time Spiral block I played Korlash control, then during Lorwyn I played faeries (before morningtide lol) and then later during Alara, I played R/B suicide aggro. Slave of Bolas was a key card because Naya Lightsaber and Bant Walls were the dominant decks in the local meta and it was absolutely PERFECT for Baneslayer Angel. Wall of Denial was likely my second least favorite card to play against. I am now in the 3rd era, where I consider myself mostly a competitive player. Elesh Norn is my waifu, and the card that makes it worth it to play the modern version of Fact or Fiction - Gifts Ungiven, in modern as well as one of the stars of my EDH pod deck. I love the Grand Cenobite and I couldnt imagine not playing her in this deck. There are many situations where I cast her turn 4/5 and my opponents just scoop. I love it! and she got DAT ASS. 7 Toughness. Even 2 lightning bolts isnt enough. Terminus is the key card in my Legacy deck, my second favorite format after EDH. 1 Mana to clear the board, no worrying about regenerate, hexproof, indestructible, or anything else? SOLD. There is no feeling more satisfying than flipping up that terminus during my draw step. None. #fourMTGcards
