The songs have been linked to tensions in Dylans personal life, including estrangement from his then-wife Sara, and one of their children, Jakob Dylan, has described the songs as my parents talking (Wikipedia)” To me, these 10 songs are as close to perfect as you can ever hope to get on one album … Tangled Up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate, and Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts are simply masterpieces. However, if I had to select one song above others Id go for Shelter from the Storm … the redemptive power of love combined with perfectly poised biblical allusions – referring to real women in his life, female archetypes, and his artistic muse - is a recurring theme I this period of his work … Suddenly I turned around and she was standin there With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair.
