stranger danger: a couple of fridays ago my daughter and friends were followed by a man in the village. I reported this to police with lots of details but unfortunately at the followed Neighbourhood Watch meeting the Police told people they did not have a description or details of this. this is very disappointing and I am following this up. There have been several other similar situations in the village before and since. Yesterday a boy was approached outside the school and a man hiding his face attempted to coax the boy into his car. I have since been told of another similar incident. Please please if you live in Pirongia or its surrounds be on the lookout for a black ute with silver markings. We are also being watchful for a man described as mid thirties, stocky build, balding/very short hair, swarthy skin and on foot. Possibly has a disability. This is the one who followed by children. We understand this man is not dangerous but he is scaring children and that is NOT OK. Please share this across your page if you are from Pirongia. Whilst we do not want a witch hunt or a vigilante on the loose, this is a serious issue and clearly the community is going to have to take ownership of this issue. thanks.
