#textinthecitysg SUBMISSION OF THE WEEK To Come Home by Joelynn Wong Ive hijacked everyones favorite sofa Banished every cushion But the fluffiest to the floor No, now its gone too. Too fluffy Curling, pulling, willing Myself together enough To fit into the corner Which used to be Too small Now theres room to spare Perhaps Ive lost weight? Okay, that just made me laugh Too hard. Maybe Im not okay. I laughed... Too hard Im still waiting for someone To fill that space. Now its empty. Its void. Its been too long, Too long I hear the sensible hum Of the standing fan The soft drumming of my fingers A peculiar rhythm In time with my beating heart A dull thud. A familiar ache. A deep-seated longing to Be somewhere else Do something else Always, Too many regrets Someone comes to mind And another, and another... They just keep coming And I cant stop Recalling, revisiting, relishing Once again The numbing pain Of love, and of loss Gone all too soon, Too little, too late. Too fond of these memories To ever let them go. Two oclock Thursday afternoon And Im curled up on my sofa Waiting, just waiting... For someone, To come. For someone, To come home.
