the LDS church recruiting 18 & 19 year old KIDS to be sent out into the world to repeat its mantras, recite its tired verses, & preach its doctrine to strangers is disgusting and wrong. what a crucial time period in these kids lives: 2 years being entirely (forcedly) devoted to uttering insincere, trite testimonies to people they have been trained to care about. in all honesty, despite their innocence and seemingly good intentions, every LDS missionary whos borne their testimony to me has recited something thats sounded either rehearsed or formulaic, but always insincere. for a lot of my friends/ family whove suffered LDS missions, it hasnt been their choice; they were pressured into the ordeal by family and their church community. please dont fall into this trap. please stop teaching this bullshit to people. it makes me so sad.
