there is islamophobia and then there is criticism of religion. the former is disgusting and the latter is essential to democracy. any sort of dogma, whether it be political, religious, or other, must be criticized, satirized, and above all, held to the standard of secular ideals. unchecked power leads to corruption and the abuse of rights. we, as leftists, cannot be afraid to challenge ideologies just because they are often inappropriately the targets of conservatives. the more censorship an ideology condones, the more likely it is that the power needs to be exposed for its unjust values.
