thoughts? From Decolonize Myself - A First Nations Perspective 1 hr · I see a lot of First Nations who side with racists against their own people. First Nations hating on their own inherent rights, treaty rights, culture, people, history. They learn to take on the same negative attitudes & words against their own. They look down on their people, speak harsh words about them, and offer no solutions or leadership. It is more than just colonized behavior or lateral violence, it is a sickness of a broken person. A combination of deep shame and disconnectedness. If they mimic what the racist is saying then they will be the First Nation person who gets all the praise, love, and respect. They believe if they only act like a canadian then they will be white-washed as one and accepted. But when you side with these racists - dont you realize they are looking at you the very same way? They will never allow you to live up to the standards they want you to be. Our traditions, our Elders, our culture, provide you with ways to face these issues with emotion & connectedness. I see people pretending they want better for our people but their tone says something very different. Their lack of action says it all.
