tomorrow is my sons 7th birthday. Some of my friends know how my Deanie came into the world, some of you may not. But as i sit back and remember the events surrounding his arrival, I cant help but have bittersweet tears. The pregnancy was rough, lots of in patient stays on the high risk unit. Steroid shots, magnesium IVs, anything and everything to keep him in as long as possible. Until I hit 33 weeks. I woke up in the middle of the night in horrible pain. 911 was called, and i was ruched in, e1 assuming it was labor. i kept telling the nurses and drs it was not. this pain was different. im telling you i couldnt move, couldnt breath. even the ultrasound was unbearable. Finally the dr who was on call showed up, and it was the same dr who i had in the high risk unit. He saved our lives. He reprimanded the staff for treating me with such disregard. He said, I had her on my floor in FULL labor, and she was walking and talking.....she is in obvious pain. After a number of tests, and my pain not subsiding, he decided to do an emergency section. I was awake, and waited for my babies cry. nothing. i got scared, and panicked. i finally heard his cry, then i got really cold, and i remember my chin was shaking uncontrollably. i saw the drs rush dean out, then ask his dad to leave. i didnt know what was going on. i said, i thought you said dad can stay with me? next thing i know i wake up in a recovery room. I was told by 3 diff drs that they had no idea what caused it, but i was bleeding internally. and I had been for at least 8 hours. had they not gone in, both dean and i would have died that day, 7 years ago. dean was in the NICU for 15 days, and i was very sick for along time after that. i had lost a lot of blood, along with the normal c section recovery and going back and forth 3 or 5 times a day to the NICU. i wouldnt change a thing. i love my baby boy with all my heart. he is truly a miracle. happy birthday Dean....
