#tristatewx February 5, 2014: Wow, it has been a busy 5 days of weather! But, you guys are used to it by now. Thank you for the snow and ice reports over the last week. Much appreciated and many of them have been passed on to the National Weather Service. Feel free to post storm damage/ice storm photos on this thread or on the weather page here. Be sure and tell me your city/county/state - approximate location of the damage. An arctic blast is heading our way with bitterly cold air. Once again water pipe busting cold is forecast to hit the region tonight (Wednesday night). I am expecting a lot of clouds for the rest of the week. We are not going to warm up much. Gusty winds today could cause additional tree damage or power line damage. There will be a series of weak disturbances moving through the Ohio Valley over the coming days. Each one of them could produce snow flurries or snow showers from time to time. We are not expecting any major accumulation of precipitation. However, if one of the disturbances were a tad stronger then a dusting or hint of snow from time to time might fall. Keep that in mind - Im not going to over analyze it - been a long week. At one time the data indicated another major storm this weekend. Over the past few days, which is often the case in a busy weather cycle, the data has lost that system and it now appears to not be a concern. What is a concern is that we are in a busy jet stream pattern. There are multiple possible scenarios the weather could take over the coming 10 day period. Quite a bit of cold to work with. Somme moisture. It will bear watching to see if one or two systems decide to produce precipitation in our region. I will update the page here as new information arrives over the coming days. If I see anything of particular interest then you will know about it. Prepare for more bitterly cold temperatures. Forecast... Today - Windy at times. Chilly. Cloudy with some light snow showers or flurries possible. Gusty NW winds at 10-20 mph. Temperatures will hold steady or fall a bit this morning. Highs in the 20s. Tonight - Pipe busting cold returns. A flurry possible. Bitterly cold. Overnight lows from 0 to 10 above zero. NW winds at 10 mph. Thursday - Mostly cloudy. A flurry or snow shower possible Highs in the teens. NW winds at 10 mph. Thursday night - Pipe busting cold. Mostly cloudy. Flurry possible. Lows in the 0 to 10 above range. Friday - Mostly cloudy with highs from 18 to 24 degrees.
