ungrateful to Nigeria It was a glaring fact that Nigerias $65 billion contribution for the anti-apartheid fight in South Africa was the major reason why Nigerias government went broke in 1983, as Nigeria as at then, was deducting the salary of every Nigerian worker, and the proceeds given to some African countries, which South Africa was No.1, to support their fight for freedom. How is South Africa quick to forget this short lived history? It is also important to recall how South Africa sidelined Nigeria in Nelson Mandelas memorial and burial plan. To believe that Barack Obama and David Cameron, representatives of the power that executed the apartheid regime in South Africa. The country these leaders represent, hugely discriminated against the black majority. They even labelled Mandela a terrorist. But they were the ones allowed to pay tributes to the man they once labelled a terrorist. Goodluck Jonathan, unfortunately, a representative of the power (Nigeria)that significantly aided Mandela in his fight for freedom, was largely ignored.. I wonder why South Africas attitude towards Nigeria and its citizens is in contrary to the good Nigeria has done them in the past and present. South Africans are safe and at peace whenever they are in Nigeria but that country maltreats Nigerians resident in their country. There are so many past stories to backup that claim. A clear one was sometimes in March 2012, where from the airport in Johanesburg, South Africa deported 125 Nigerians, alleging their yellow fever vaccination certificates were fakes. The most recent is the embarrassment Nigeria received from the South African government. Even though they have returned the said $15 million, their prior motive was aimed at exposing efforts by the Federal Government to secretly procure arms. The seizure which was made by South african authorities between September and early October, a total of $15 million in two separate arms purchase transactions, one involving the use of a private jet belonging to CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, to convey $9.3 million to South Africa for arms purchase.
