urgent RGENT SHARING FOR PLEDGES MEDICAL LISTED P L E A S E P L E D G E CODE RED IN MIAMI CODE RED -- DUE OUT FRI 7/11 ( 6PM) -- NEEDS RESCUE COMMITMENT OR WILL BE EUTHANIZED!!!! MIAMI, FL Pet presented for: Aged, poss. arthritis, ocular changes. On examination pet has unstable gait, rear legs weak. Poss arthritis Nuclear sclerosis (ocular opacity) vs. mature cataracts Skin: _dull/ dry scales_ Worn dentition Severe dental calculus and gingival retractions are noted. OK to release early for rescue. This pet is severely emaciated with a body condition score of 2/9. Pet is geriatric and will require individual care in order to improve condition. Pet needs radiographs to asses orthopedic condition /s . Pet will also require CBC/chem panel to assess general condition and organ function. If this pets current medical conditions deteriorate, humane euthanasia will be indicate at the veterinarians discretion Pet was heartworm negative on in house test. Heartworm prevention given today. Adopter/rescuer/foster has 30 days to contact their own veterinarian for consecutive heartworm prevention treatment. Pet presented for evaluation--quiet, alert, and responsive, oral mucous membranes are pink and moist with a capillary refill time of less than 2 seconds. H/L = WNL. Moderate dental calculus and gingivitis. Incisors are abnormal--with attrition/some fractured and with pulp exposure. Recommend full dental examination under anesthesia with full mouth radiographs, cleaning, and most likely several extractions. Moderate amount of black otic exudate bilaterally. The abdomen appears to be mildly distended. This may be related to intestinal parasites, Cushings, neoplasia, hepatic disease, etc. Recommend abdominal ultrasound. Mass behind right ear, approximately 5cmx5cm in size, freely moving and unattached to subcutaneous layer. Recommend FNA, biopsy and/or removal at private practice. Poor coat quality, dull and flaky. Had scab on snout, shaved this area. Grade 1 luxating patellas. No signs of arthritis in hips. Pet has some difficulty walking long distances. Seems to slip. Due to the pets emaciated body condition and multiple medical problems, recommend that this pet be sent to rescue. If rescue does not pick up by the the due out date (Friday 7/11 at 6PM) humane euthanasia will be indicated.
