wanted to go smooth off on my class today. After watching a civil rights children march clip. I asked them, so after all black people went through why do you think President Obama is so special to America? blink stare o-o, because he is nice to us (3) times, because he is white and black, because he ended segregation, because he is the president........ ahhhhhh noooo no no no no. My response: homework tonight, go ask someone in your family preferably an older person, WHY. I am saddened that one; my students find it hard to THINK of thought provoking things and two; families have strayed away from teaching their children about their heritage. Whats even more sad is that the things that they should know nothing about they know like clockwork. While I was asking them to think, they were making connections to Jerry Springer, AGAIN!. smh. Guess I have more teaching and raising up to do; it comes with the territory. back to the drawing board [-/ #lovemykidsjustannoyedandsad
