watching the History Channel which is not unusual, but havent paid much attention to Vikings in the past.... Reckon I could say these are my People, as my Maternal Grandmother was half Swedish (other side German). I have one picture of my maternal Great Great Grandfather, Gustav Peterson, born in Sweden, was sold into slavery to an abusive farmer, escaped and with his siblings immigrated to NY after the Civil War. Word was he was tough, made money in the Pubs of Brooklyn breakiing bricks with his hands..... Greake (Sweish slang) was known to be a gruff man, once killed a man in a bar fight, he only hit him once. Meemo (my Grandmother) once told me that I reminded her of Greake....temper and all..... if I ever live long enough to have Great Grandchildren, I would be honored to be called Greake.....right now, I am Pappy.... that is what I called my Paternal Grandfather..... History people, The stuff that dreams are made from.....
