we need your inputs to learn weaves. pls read below and help us if you can. since the last 19 months, weve totally been in love with jamdaani. then in oct., we saw a manipuri cotton weave and found that theres absolutely no difference between the two (two pics of the manipuri weave are attached underneath). in both the weaves, the thread goes in loops to form a pattern/design. the fabric for both r airy, light and almost transparent. yes, their motifs are different. manipuri being more floral for the evident reasons - its weather allows a lot of flora and the landscape has been an inspiration for the weaves. jamdaani is more aztec. (yet to find the reasons why.) the question is, can someone tell us the difference and similarities between these two weaves. we called a jamdaani weaver for help, and he says he barely knows about manipuri weave.
