well, craigslist apparently solve my pressure washer problem... a guy just down the street had a broken craftsman with a bad motor, good pump... he was moving and just wanted to get rid of it... he spoke the truth, he was not a mechanic... I got it home, and sure enough there was oil all over the place, figured he overfilled, but no... it was ok... so I pulled the plug, cranked it a few times... oil didnt come squirting out, but I could see oil on the plug... well, look at this plug will ya... the electrode is touching... there be no gap matey... took me a while to find my spark plug gap measuring thing... (remember, Ive got an all Diesel fleet, we dont do spark plugs... only the lawn mower and the pressure washer have one...) gapped it, put it back in... set the choke and throttle, pulled two or three times, it popped, fiddled with the choke and throttle, pulled again, it lit up and started attacking the neighborhood mosquitoes... smoke was kind of pouring out... but diminishing... I let it run... after 40 seconds or so it was burning clean... by this time my bride was closing kitchen windows and holding her nose... wait, shes not a mosquito... anyway... I shut it off, didnt want to run it long without water attached to the pump... not a good thing... (it had been wet)... hooked up the hose, restarted and oh boy, we had a pressure washer... with a lot more kick than the one that passed away... guess it would, its 3,000 psi vs. 2,700 psi. so, thanx for all the advice Tacoma White :) will be putting a nice clean looking craftsman 2700 psi 7.75hp pressure washer with a cracked pump up on ebay... surely someone will have one with a bad engine and a good pump... new pump is $164. This engine is in great shape, have been running it on Amsoil synthetic oil.
