when i was a child i would tell everyone not to worry so much; that were just like the animals that graze in a field peacefully. when i left home and needed work i saw a job opening at the end of the SEPTA rail line for a public relations spot. as i filled out the application i could hear the screaming of pigs coming from the other side of the wall. it was a job at a pork slaughterhouse. i jettisoned the dream of a career in advertising around then. and nothing was ever quite the same. the landscape of my life had suddenly changed. i started making paintings that i hoped would be the visual equivalent of music chords.
