when told by someone else what to write about you should/you could write a poem about it feels about as insulting and condescending and patronizing... as if you were told what meal to prepare... (if you love cooking or youre a chef) as youre making the meal... told what to make, how to make it... what spices to add... how to be inspired making your own entree... rather than going by what you feel, your intuition and the recipe thats in your head. not sure i can put it more plainly than that (or dumb it down more)... but inspiration in Art comes from within (rather than, from without... from others/outside/assigned/told/instructed) get it? maybe not... it seems many people believe Artists/writers/poets need THEM to tell them what to write about/make/create/write about/be inspired by/topics assigned/etc. LOL.... its hilarious yet insulting... and im fairly certain im not the only one who feels this way or has felt this way. hey it feels about as great as a photographer who has just shown you some fantastic photos... and whats the response? you must have a great camera/gear/software yep! press the shutter button on an expensive camera. thats all it takes for those amazing photos you see! yeah right ;) LOL. or hey, approach your favorite author and you (as the expert, authority, adviser) tell HIM/HER... what THEIR next novel should be about.... Writers dont know what to what about! theyre grasping for ideas... (not imaginative, or creative on their own... not inspired to write about what they feel when theyre feeling it!) NO... they need you... as a fan/whoever... they rely on you! Email your favorite famous novelists right now...... theyre counting on you... Tell them what to write.
